French Connection’s summer collection is really fabulous. There’s lots of light pieces, and a tonne of lace and detailing which will add an extra element of interest to your maternity wardrobe. There’s also a number of dresses which will work for you and your growing bump too.
So if you’re looking to add to your summer wardrobe as the weather begins to finally turn a corner, then definitely check them out.
Here’s The Bump Edit’s picks of the new collection.
Lace Sleeve Jumper
White lace is all over the high street, and this jumper is a great way to include it in your maternity wardrobe. The laser cut sleeves make it a real statement piece, and the oversized fit means it’ll work as you go through pregnancy.
Another great white, mixed fabric jumper. This is such a feminine fit, and the extra length at the back is perfect if you’re wanting to cover your pregnancy curves.
More white with this pretty empire waisted embroidered dress, the pleating will disguise your bump in the early days, making it a great early maternity dress. Plus the waistline will be super flattering, and this and the length will mean it’ll continue to fit as your bump grows.
Cotton Shirt Dress
A cotton shirt dress is a great addition for your pregnancy wardrobe, and this drawstring waist version is a great non maternity version. The drawstring will nip you in while you can, or tie at the back, and as your bump gets bigger simply let it out. The button down neck will also work post baby if you’re looking to breastfeed.
Maxi Shirt Dress
Perfect transitional shirt dress, the length of this one is great for the unpredictable British weather. It’s got a similar drawstring waist detail to the one above, and the side splits add a touch of femininity. This would definitely suit your work, or holiday maternity wardrobe.
OK, so this isn’t exactly the most summery of options, but I couldn’t leave this dress out. It’s got a lovely stretchy waistband which will easily sit above your bump, and the heavy jersey fabric means it falls in such an elegant style. Plus the Bardot neckline isn’t so elasticated that it rides up constantly which is always a possible annoyance with this style.
If Boho’s your thing, this dress is perfect, it’s got great stretch so will work with you as you grow through your pregnancy. The length and long arms will cover any bits you want covered, whilst the deep V neckline will show of your new pregnancy assets. If the dress is a bit full on for you there’s a skirt and top version too.
