Pregnancy is a lot of things, on one side it’s a bloody miracle, and what your body can do will amaze you, but on the other hand it can also be pretty uncomfortable. So the last thing you want is to wear uncomfortable clothes during that long 9 months! Beyond Nine is a new brand of maternity jumpsuits which is looking to do away with uncomfortable / ill fitting jumpsuits so often found on the high street which just don’t serve the purpose. I met with Naomi the founder this week to talk more about the brand and what it’s all about.
Naomi is pretty incredible. Her mum loaned her an old 80’s jumpsuit when she was pregnant with her first child which she wore religiously and loved, asking why nothing similar was available in the UK maternity market. The idea of developing her own collection styled on that borrowed jumpsuit bubbled away and in this pregnancy she developed a prototype which she’s worn all through her trimesters, and set about launching the collection. The website went live a day before going in to labour with her month old son, and has been selling the styles through a series of pre-orders since. Now I could barely find the time and energy to brush my own teeth when my son was a month old, so how anyone has launched a business which is meeting with rave reviews from customers absolutely blows my mind!!
The collection is comprised of two styles of jumpsuits, both available in 3 classic colours, Navy, Black and Charcoal. Having tried them both, I can confirm they are super super comfortable. Made of a stretch jersey fabric, which is thick enough to hold it’s shape with a bump or without, they’ll work from the first week through to the final stages of the third trimester. They’re priced at £80, and if you consider price per wear, they’re really worth the investment. The sizing is generous in both the styles owing to the relaxed fit, and they’re available in S (8-10), M (12-14) and L (16).
The Dot Tie Shoulder style is gorgeous, and with easy tie shoulder straps it adjusts to give you more room as your bump grows. Plus the style of the straps makes it perfect for breastfeeding, as you can either untie, or simply slip them down over your arms. When first breastfeeding a baby, it’s this kind of simplicity which can make the process a whole lot less stressful. This style, being jersey, and oversized is intended to be casual, but roll up the legs, and pair with heels and a dressier top and you’ll have a great evening option too.
The Laura Drop Arm Jumpsuit has a relaxed fit, and the drop sides make it perfect both for your growing bump, and for breastfeeding, with generous side access. It’s adjustable as your bump grows, but this time through the legs which look good rolled up or as they are once you get to later trimesters. The styling of this shape also allows you to have a bit more fun with what you’re pairing it with, as the sides show off your top underneath really nicely. It’s details like this, whilst staying comfortable which can make all the difference when you’re pregnant to make you feel good and still stylish.
So if you’re looking for a jumpsuit which is comfortable, stylish and high quality, check out Beyond Nine and nab yourself a pre-order in the next run!
