Autumn can be tough to dress for as the weather cools down but you’re not quite ready for jumpers and boots. A more transitional dress can be a great solution, especially as during pregnancy you can often feel like you’re carrying round your own personal radiator.
Think of dresses which you can wear now on their own, but can pair with tights, leggings or even trousers later in the year to give them longevity through pregnancy and improve your cost per wear. Trousers might sound odd, but check out Trinny Woodall’s Instagram for inspiration, she is the queen of layering!
Also go for length, either with the sleeves, or the body, or both. A longer cut on a dress naturally feels that bit more autumnal, and will serve you well as the weather cools down. There are some great darker florals around too which will help you hang on to the spirit of summer but feel a bit more seasonal.
Wrap dresses for pregnancy might seem a bit cliche, but they’re another great option for this time of year, and if you go for a non-maternity version which your bump outgrows, think about wearing it over a body con dress or top and jeans. Kind of like a kimono, this can really work if you have a pretty floral to pair with something plainer. Same goes for a dress which is button up at the front.
There’s lots of great trans-seasonal dresses on the high street at the moment, here’s my picks for pregnancy…
